Alexander Bublik

Power, talent and craziness

Alexander “Sasha” Bublik has just achieved his career best ranking, #128 in Emirates ATP Ranking, in June 19th 2017. On the NextGen ATP Race to Milan, for the Under-21 elite event, Bublik is now on 12th position.

Bublik exploded in 2016, rising more than 700 positions in the ranking (from 964 to 205) impressing fans and press with his crushing accelerations, perfectly measured dropshots and fun-lover attitude on court. In ATP Moscow tournament he reached quarter-finals coming from qualifying, after beating Bautista-Agut (#13 ATP, finalist the previous week at Shanghai Masters).

Many tennis fans are starting to notice his huge potential, being delivered at his opponents with big powerful serves, a great backhand down the line, many unexpected dropshots and an overall brilliant game. Some journalists and fellow players foresee a top-20 player, who will be very hard to beat on fast surfaces.

Alex was born in Gatchina, a few kilometers from St Petersburg, on June 17th 1997. His father Stanislav – currently his coach – introduces tennis to him at the age of 4.

A former junior top-20, Alex is from the same generation of highly talented players such as Zverev, Fritz, and his co-nationals Khachanov, Rublev and Saffiulin.

A bit crazy, aggressive and highly competitive player on court, Alex is recognized by his peers to be a fun, smiling and warm character off the court.
